U16 Turquoise - St Albans
Today we welcomed StAlbans from the league above in this cup quarter final.
We started well and were playing some good football and on 17th minute Emily played a lovely through ball to Lexie who clinically scored top left from the edge of the box 1-0. St Albans started playing the long ball over our right back and on the 26th minute were threw one on one and scored 1-1. We didn’t let our heads drop and created some excellent chances, but just couldn’t find that final pass. Against the run off play on the 39th minute they had a free kick on the edge of our box. A beautiful shot went top right, our keeper had no chance 1-2. Halftime 1-2.
We changed our formation for the second half and we’re by far the better team. With both Remi and Lexie going close. Then on the 50th minute up popped Remi to slot home 2-2. We continued to dominate with most of the play in there half, although they were dangerous on the counter. Despite our dominance the game finished 2-2 and went to penalties.
The girls held there nerves, with Lexie, Remi, Caila and Emily all scoring, with the game finishing 4-2!.
Yet again the girls showed a determination and togetherness to win against a good team.
