U12 Orange - Wrecking balls
It was a battle at Newbold Comyn—a rematch with plenty of history behind it. Last year’s heated encounter ended in a 3–1 defeat to Wrecking Balls, but this time Leamington Brakes turned the tables, securing a hard-fought 2–1 victory.
The first half was won in midfield, where Oleg and Noah battled strongly, won their duels, and moved the ball forward with purpose. Wrecking Balls came closest to opening the scoring when a looping effort struck the crossbar, but Leamington remained disciplined and resilient. Whenever the opposition threatened, William was there with safe hands.
Then came the breakthrough. Seb took a quick throw-in and found Fin G, who took one touch on the edge of the box before calmly finding the net.
Not long afterwards, the substitutions were made, with Teddy moving into the forward position. Charlie then produced a dazzling run down the right before finding Teddy inside the box. Teddy finished in style with a beautiful backheel to make it 2–0 at half-time.
The second half continued in much the same fashion. Leamington defended with determination, while William made several comfortable saves to protect the lead. Wrecking Balls pushing to score setting up a tense finish, but Leamington held firm to claim a deserved 2–0 win.
There were several excellent performances. Oleg and Noah had a particularly strong first half, showing great tracking back and tackling. William made some assured saves, and it is difficult to believe this was his first game for the team—well done.
👏👏👏
Fin and Teddy both took their goals extremely well.👏👏👏
The Values Trophy goes to Noah, who showed excellent sportsmanship and did not allow the opposition’s attempts to unsettle him to affect his performance. Well done Noah 👏👏👏
But this week’s Man of the Match is Charlie. His dazzling runs caused constant problems, and his assist for Teddy’s goal was outstanding.
Well done, Charlie—and well done to the whole team on a memorable victory.👏👏👏
