U11 Blacks 26/27 - Homegrown

A really good performance from the boys today as we came away with a 5–3 win against a strong Homegrown side.

It was an entertaining game from start to finish, with both teams showing plenty of attacking quality. We started positively and looked dangerous going forward, creating opportunities and putting Homegrown under pressure.

There were some excellent passages of football from us, particularly when we moved the ball quickly and played with confidence. We created a number of good chances and showed good composure in front of goal to put five away.

Defensively, there are certainly things we can work on. Conceding three goals is something we’ll look at, particularly in terms of our organisation and managing the game when we’re under pressure. But I was really pleased with the way the boys responded whenever Homegrown came back at us.

The biggest positive for me was the character we showed. It wasn’t an easy game, but we kept playing, kept creating and kept believing in our way of playing. That mentality is really important.
