Away Win v Newbridge United

An early start with a 9.45am kick off against Newbridge United at Corrigan Park saw the unbeaten run continue with a 0:3 win.

The lads started off well with immediate pressure that saw Niko have a shot on target in the first minute, saved by the Keeper with the pressure continuing that resulting in 5 corners within 6 minutes, but the goals just didn’t come.

it took a determined run from Fionn to break the deadlock at the 15 minute mark, Fionn finishing well, we were 0:1.

A handball in the box by one of the Newbridge players resulted in a penalty at the 20 minute mark.
Lucas, haven just come back after a long period of injury, stood up to the mark and sending the keeper the wrong way with a well taken penalty we were 0:2 up. A first from Lucas, and caught on video! Everyone delighted for him, and many more will come.

Senan had two great chances, a run up the right hand side, hitting the target, but saved by the keeper and a second chance from a brilliant corner taken by Harry, again saved and put over the bar by the Keeper. With this confidence Senan will find the net soon!

The first half ended 0:2, and with 11 corners for us!

The second half saw the bench coming on making their mark, and the pressure continued, with shots from Nathanem, Joe (multiple times), Fionn, Cian (multiple times), Freddie and Matthew, but we just wouldn’t find the net. Newbridge were unlucky not to score from their only corner of the game with 3 minutes to go, just put over for a goal kick.

Down the other end in the dying seconds of the game, Harry took another brilliant corner, and Jamie connected well, putting the ball in the back of the net! The match ending 0:3.

Our run of form continues, and we now stand 5 points clear at the top of the league with 4 games to go. We are all very proud of the effort being put in by the lads, and their hard work is paying off.

Next week sees an afternoon kick off at 3.30pm in Kerdiffstown Park against Kill Celtic, who we recently drew with away from home. The support has been brilliant and we hope as many of you as possible can make this game as it is a big one!

Many thanks,

The Coaching Group
