U9 Azzuri 2 v 3 Ammers Red

Calcio Azzuri lost undeservedly, after a fantastic performance from the team. I thought we was the better team throughout playing against a very strong Ammers side (who qualified for nationals this year).

I was really pleased with how we played out from the GK. (Something we worked on in training last night) Ammers kept changing how they pressed from our Goal kicks pressing with either 1 or going man for man. So the players realised this and adapted well to different situations that we mentioned previously at training and in our team talks, getting great success from this.

2-0 up going into the 3rd half, Ammers went very direct with having 3STs at times and an aggressive press, with a frantic few minutes, we showed good intentions but just lacking the execution and we got punished with a couple of errors.

However, the boys didn’t stop. With momentum against us we still kept creating chances looking for an equaliser but just didn’t happen in the end. Overall, I’m really proud of the performance and the effort from the team today. Performances like these, is great to see as this is where real development is, which is key 🙌
