Saturday 2nd XI - Corley 3s

In a day meant to be the return of the old gits it was a young sod who stole the show.....
Greying Martin Hall "won" the tossing contest and when the Dragon decided the heat was too much to handle Harry Clarke took over the mantle...
Anyway 44.1 overs later he'd hit the young, old, thin and "not so thin" around Norton including waking the elderly Norton Keeper who was napping in the changing room....
Clarke ended on 166, not out, but not through lack of trying. If he was a cat, he'd only have 3 lives left. Support was provided by Mark White 34* in a partnership of 148*. Norton ended on 286 for 3. Tea, for once at Norton, was the 2nd highlight of the day. The old buggers strapped themselves up and hauled themselves onto the field chased by the youth - the gate wasn't the only thing creaking as Dave Mc, Skipper, Dave J & Dragon tried to get the knees, shoulders and elbows to move without snapping as they wheeled away "tirelessly". Clarke feeling the need to have some impact in the days preceding grabbed 2 catches, but was denied a full all-round performance by Rich Monks efforts (4 for 6). Corley could only muster 59. With only Jarrett and Frost failing to claim any victims….
Norton win by 227 runs
