Our Sunday morning home match today wasn’t blessed by the weather, drizzle and a wet surface made the ball quite unpredictable at times.

Despite that what a fantastic game from both teams.

Alvis started at 100 miles an hour and we looked off the pace for the opening 10 minutes, they scored first and we could feel a bit lucky to be at 1-1, thanking Ernest in goal for some vital saves. Lightning improved and before the break, we were on top, stretching their defence every time we moved forward.

We carried that into the second half, and looked like the better team, scoring twice to lead 3-1 with 13 minutes to go.

Both keepers made impressive saves, some incredibly hard work in midfield areas by both teams kept the competitive edge. Alvis scored a long range screamer, we couldn’t do much about, making it 3-2. Unfortunately for us they then made their chances count and 2 quick goals saw them take the lead. We took a gamble to get the equaliser, which nearly paid off, but ultimately resulted in a fifth Alvis goal.

The boys should be proud of their performance again, some moments of top quality from individuals and as a team. As usual, several players in contention for the awards, work rate being a key factor.
