Boys U14 (2011) Major 1 - Dunlavin AFC

This was a game of football clichés.
Naas controlled the game. They took a two goal lead into the second half. It's a dangerous lead they say. They're right. Dunlavin attacked twice and scored twice. Suddenly Naas looked vulnerable.
Except for Nikodem Dziabor. He wasn't feeling vulnerable and he wasn't accepting any collapse. He had been at the forefront of Naas' dominance in the first half and he was refusing to let that go to waste.
A last ditch corner fell to his feet on the edge of the box. He didn't even need to look where the goals were. He knew. And he knew what he was going to do. And he did it. Bang! Roof of the net! A last gasp winner! It was one of those moments where everybody knew it was going in as soon as he struck it. Even Dunlavin knew.
Victory snatched from the jaws of, well, a draw but it was feeling like a defeat until that moment. It was feeling like a defeat until Nikodem decided he wasn't accepting it.
The better team won
2-0 is a dangerous lead
A last gasp winner
Football clichés.
