U12 Blacks 25/26 - Qualitas Sport Gold

Doesn't feel like a 6-2 result is a fair reflection of how we played. Never nice to lose but I was encouraged with a lot of the things we did or tried to do throughout the game.

It was a bit of a strange pitch in terms of the set up/dimensions and the amount of rubber on it.

Nevertheless, it was the same for both teams. And with injuries to Patrick, Archie and Ewan throughout the game we never really got into our flow.

At least 2 of their goals came for set pieces, one direct from a corner, and one direct from a free kick, both executed with precision. And we have them a couple of soft goals.

I liked that our goals came from the high press, and I loved Joshua's selfless decision to set up Rocco for the first, and Rocco's cool chipped/curled finish from just outside the box.

Overall, I think we gave a good account of ourselves against a team that gave the Blacks a tough game last season. On another day, the result could easily be in our favour.

Well done to all the boys, and thanks to the parents that made the long trip over to support. Special shout out to Aiden who I thought made some really brave 1v1 blocks/collections inside his box.
