U13 Blacks 26/27 - All Skills Elite
Match Report: UFCA U13 Blacks 2 – 6 All Skills
While the scoreline was frustrating and down to a few avoidable errors, the overall performance was packed with positives, and valuable tactical learning points for the team!
Goal-by-Goal Breakdown & Key Learnings:
(VEO footage: app.veo.co/matches/20261031-u13-blacks-v-all-skills-vbe75c13/)
- 0–1: All Skills hit us early on the counter-attack, exploiting space out wide.
Learning: delay the attack to buy time to recover and midfielder need to track back quicker and stay compact.
- 0–2: A moment where we temporarily stopped, anticipating a whistle for a handball. The opposition played on and seized their chance.
Learning: A valuable lesson to always play to the whistle and throw bodies in to block the shot!
- 0–3: The opposition found space through the middle when our defensive unit stretched a little too wide, leaving us short on cover behind the initial 1v1 duel.
Learning: Be aggressive on our 1v1s, where possible stay in position and compact. If we notice a player out of position, can we cover for him.
- 1–3: A moment of pure quality from George! He unleashed a nonchalant, superb strike from 25 yards out to pull one back—recreating a fantastic piece of technique we see him pull off regularly in training.
Learning: George needs to take more freekicks!
- 1–4 & 1–5: A couple of quick goals for All Skills—one from a corner that we could have defended better, and another where their attacker managed to weave through a few challenges.
Learning: Be harder to beat and making firmer contact in those 1v1s to unbalance the opponent.
- 1–6: A loose pass/clearance on the edge of our penalty area gifted them an easy finish.
Learning: A good reminder for us to stay calm under pressure and find alternative ways to play away from, through or over pressure.
-
2–6: Massive credit to the boys for showing real character! Despite the scoreline and earlier frustrations, they kept pushing right to the final whistle and were rewarded with a stunning goal. George whipped in a pinpoint corner, and Max met it with total commitment, powering a brilliant header into the net.
Learning: Keep working hard and going until the end. Be ready for the next chance you get!
Star Performances:
- ⭐ Max R: Showed brilliant resilience to shake off a missed penalty earlier in the match. He worked his socks off all game and capped off his performance with a fantastic, powerful header at the death!
- ⭐ George: Scored an absolute peach of a long-range freekick, provided a great assist from the corner, and had continuous bright moments linking up play throughout.
A tough result on paper, but the boys showed great spirit to keep playing right to the end, and the tactical lessons will only make us stronger for the next game!
