U15 UFCA 25/26 - Guiseley U15s
Match Report
JPL National Cup – 1st Knockout Round UFCA 2–1 Guiseley
Attendance: 87
Coaches’ Player of the Match: Joe Watson
UFCA booked their place in the next round of the JPL National Cup after a disciplined and intelligent 2–1 victory over a strong Guiseley side. From the first whistle, UFCA imposed themselves on the contest, controlling possession and dictating the tempo with their usual attacking and positive brand of football.
The breakthrough came early. After ten minutes, Yusuf Qureshi pounced in the box to finish off a well-constructed individual move and give UFCA a deserved lead. The advantage, however, lasted only five minutes. Guiseley capitalised on a rare defensive lapse to level the score at 1–1.
Unfazed, UFCA regained control almost immediately. On 25 minutes, Zac Black restored the lead with a header across goal, rewarding the side’s dominance and sharp forward play. While the fullbacks were given slightly less attacking licence than usual—part of a deliberate tactical adjustment—the team still carried a constant threat going forward while maintaining strong defensive structure.
Guiseley found chances difficult to come by throughout the afternoon. Across 80 minutes, UFCA restricted them to just two clear opportunities and a small handful of long-range efforts, largely thanks to disciplined team shape and strong individual performances across the back line and midfield.
The game wasn’t without frustration. The referee’s reluctance to call several obvious fouls led to rising irritation on the pitch, but the UFCA players held their composure, refusing to be rattled and maintaining focus on the task at hand.
At the final whistle it was a professional, well-managed performance—job done. UFCA now advance to face Pontefract Collieries, offering an immediate chance to avenge last week’s narrow 3–2 defeat.
