U16 Elite - Sheffield Wednesday
An excellent effort from the 16s against their Cat 2 academy opponents on Saturday. The score line doesn’t paint the true picture as Sheff Wed scored 2 in the last period to make the game look much more comofortable than it was. Ultimately a bit of extra individual ability made the difference late in the game.
We set out to play in a mid press but Sheffield were causing so many issues for us with their rotations and we were ending up deeper and deeper, a few adjustments in our approach and we started to create some chances oursleves with Alex Brook striking the post following an excellent run.
We kept the score at 0-0 until the 58th minute and were very much on the ascendency at the stage when we were caught on a transition and went in 1-0 after the 2nd period. The last period was as we expected
It would be in that Sheff Wed maintained their energy and press and ultimately managed to wear us down a little bit late on and get 2 more goals late on.
A real positive start for the players involved and an excellent bench mark to build from.
