U12 Blacks 25/26 - Yorkshire RTC
A spirited and stylish performance from UFCA that deserved much more than the scoreline suggests. Despite facing a physically strong opponent, the Blacks stayed true to their philosophy, playing out from the back with bravery and flair.
First Half: Bravery Under Pressure
UFCA started the game with a clear identity, finding creative solutions to bypass the RTC press. However, the hosts were clinical with their opportunities. In the 10th minute, RTC’s number 7 found space on the edge of the box and fired home a powerful drive to make it 1-0.
The Blacks didn't shy away, continuing to build from the back. Unfortunately, the "sucker punch" came in the 17th minute when a misplaced pass from a goal kick was intercepted by RTC’s physical number 11, who doubled their lead.
Despite being 2-0 down, the football UFCA played was a "joy to see," at times moving the ball with confidence and style, and rattling the woodwork 4 times.

Second Half: All about character
The start of the second half proved difficult as RTC caught the boys "napping" with two quick-fire goals in the 41st and 45th minutes. Their pacey and skillful number 7 was again the architect, pushing the score to 4-0.
Most teams would have folded, but UFCA showed immense character. We were incredibly unlucky not to be on the scoresheet sooner, hitting the woodwork again after the team move of the game and carving out numerous chances.
The Final Quarter: Winning the Battle
During the final break, the boys were challenged to go and win the fourth quarter, and they responded emphatically.
The pressure finally told in the 64th minute; Harry produced excellent work down the right wing to keep the attack alive, and Archie S—showing a relentless "never-say-die" attitude—forced a mistake from the RTC keeper. Archie pounced on the loose ball to tap it home, sparking a strong finish for the Blacks.
With Rocco and Kaiden coming on late to provide fresh energy, UFCA finished the game with their tails up, dominating the final ten minutes and proving they could go toe-to-toe with one of the league's most physical sides.
Coach’s View
"Scoreline aside, the boys gave an excellent account of themselves today. I am super proud of the effort levels and the bravery shown to play out from the back under pressure.
Our mistakes were punished by two standout individual players and clinical finishes, but we won the final quarter and finished the stronger side. We created more than enough chances to have a much closer scoreline—hitting the post and bar five times tells its own story. The cutting edge will come, but the 'style' of our play and levels of effort were exactly where they should be."
Congratulations to Players of the Match Harry Richardson and Fabio Capasso 👏👏👏
