U13 UFCA v AC1 Red

UFCA started brightly against AC1 who came into the game full of confidence having won their first two league games. Much of our early success in the first two quarters came down the right hand side with AJ continually finding himself with lots of free space to attack. UFCA took the lead early in the first quarter as AJ delivered a cross that evaded everyone in the box, however Dexter arriving late on the opposite flank, smashed the ball past the keeper giving UFCA the perfect start.

Further goals followed from Riley and Milo with UFCA racing into a 3-0 lead. Despite this, AC1 were not deterred and continued to press high up the pitch and along with corners, this was where their main danger came from, with UFCA occasionally struggling to play through the press and turning the ball over.

UFCA remained solid and were largely in control in the first two quarters, with AJ’s third assist of the game finished by Travs to make it 4-0. Shortly after this, Travs went down injured on the half way line, AC1 attacked the weakened back line and with the defence scrambling, UFCA were unable to react quick enough allowing AC1 to pull a goal back just before the end of the second quarter.

Despite some injuries, UFCA maintained their energy amd work rate in the third and fourth quarters and were at their best when they moved the ball quickly against a tiring AC1. Lucas scored an excellent goal to make it 5-1 and this was followed by Milo winning and them emphatically converting a penalty to make it 6-1.

In the final quarter UFCA played out from the back with some lovely 1 and 2 touch football exploiting the spaces that were now appearing all over the pitch , but despite this, were only able to add a single goal that came from Riley’s head following a shot from Travs that was smashed against the bar.

Following some sloppy play, 7-1 became 7-2 with the last kick of the game as the AC1 player scored a nice goal from the edge of the box. All in all, a convincing win against a previously unbeaten team with UFCA’s strongest performance of the season giving them back to back wins.
