Boys U16 (2010) Premier - Prosperous
On a converted GAA pitch, we went into the game in good spirits after a excellent performance against Kilcock.
We started the game where we left off against Kilcock, playing some great football and we were ahead within 6 minutes. Following excellent work put right by James Collins, who dug out a cross, which fell to Jack O Brien. Jack's initial shot was blocked but he fell to him, he shifted onto his left and finished well from 10 yards.
Playing down the hill we kept the pressure on and the second arrived soon after. James Collins clipped a ball through, which Ned Keogh showed good football intelligence to leave the ball, as he was offside. The defence stopped which allowed Sean Stafford to run through, opened his body and beat the keeper with a great finish.
In cruise control, and the story of our season, we switched off, and stopped doing the simple things.
They pulled one back from a corner, which we did not deal with and it bounced off a defender and in.
They equalised when we did not win our tackles in midfield and they finished for 2-2.
For the second half for the first 20 minutes, we were simply not good enough, and conceded 3 very sloppy goals.
The ironic thing was we had the ball for most of thr second half and started to play football when we were 5-2 down.
This game is a bit of a head scratchy, as a squad we firmly believe we have a serious talented squad, but prosperous were organised and seemed to want to win the game more than us.
